when is someone going to love my spark my enthusiasm my myriad of information an alien in a spaceship or a bubble deep at sea floating far away from humanity. when will someone match my affection when will they love the words I so carefully craft and pull from my heart or my hands that reach with no thought, only the instinct to hold to stroke to love you. when will I not be so foreign to every other human still inhabiting this earth my consciousness is in another dimension.

you make me want to leave this whole world behind. you’re still alive in the places my heart hides its sorrow. what an unreal feeling, going on when you had to go. you make me want to reach to the cosmos, dip my fingers in the starry river’s glow. down here it’s still a grayscale haze; your technicolor heart’s flown away. you had the kind of smile that brought all the fireflies home. I only wish that you could have stayed.

What do I write about when my emotions are as tangled as the Christmas lights in my closet; Whenever I go to take them out, it's too much work to untangle them all. Blinking wildly if I plug them in, too blinding to bother looking at. But y'know, just like that annual holiday, I'm all too obliged, too pulled to not ignore them, that I open the closet and dig them out anyway.

For just one moment I'm a kid, and I believe in magic. I'm watching the weather channel, with my favorite song playing in the background-- the one that can always bring me back home, no matter what house I find myself in-- and I pray for rain. I'm an adult again--for how long? I don't know--and I'm watching the world outside my window, the forecast says "hate." I'm not a kid; I don't believe in magic, but with a song in my heart, I pray for rain. In the absence of light, even the presence of darkness is blinded by our own pure hatred. But yesterday, I took time to see the freckles on an orchid. They lit up her face like fireworks to a night sky, and Orchid is such a pretty name for a girl. I hope we create a world where Orchids can blossom; a world with light and love.
