Stars in your eyes,
Constellations to behold.
A solarscape of dreams,
The night sky shines with lost hope.
Shimmering, twinkling, so far away
A cold space, perhaps,
That could lead one astray.
You look down upon the world fast asleep.
You whisper with galaxies in your breath,
You breathe imagination into their dreams.
Curled up in the belly of a planet,
You are the essence of the moon.
Wrapping the veil of the Milky Way around your shoulders,
A longing tugs at the corners of your celestial form.
Sometimes, shadows are cast on moonlit nights;
Two forms walk under the full moon.
A couple deeply in love,
Holding hands,
Kissing lips,
Whispering sweet nothings into ears.
While the world sleeps, only you three are awake,
And you watch in far-off fascination
As the two so far below you have not a care in the world.
In time you sit, steeping in your own thoughts,
On this emotion that was once unknown.
A large, black teardrop,
Full of reflections of suns and moons,
Slips from the corner of your eye
To splash into the world's oceans.
There is one you know,
One you wish for,
Who generously allows you to borrow his light,
And you look to the faroff distance,
Where he set only hours ago.
He shines beautifully in the daytime,
When the residents of earth wake and stretch to his presence,
Smile at the beautiful new day.
You cannot blame them for their unconscious state during your time,
For even you would gladly wake to his presence every morning,
And turn your face to bask in his warmth.
Although you may be a goddess of dreams,
He is a god of life.
The Sun sheds his solar beams across the planet so wide,
And all you can do is watch and admire,
Hidden behind the veil of the blue sky.
You wish upon your own shooting stars,
Hoping that one day,
The universe might allow such a union
Between night and day,
Sun and Moon,
But alas, as you reach your hand out, formed from constellations,
He is too far for you to grasp.
Just once you wish
You could uncurl and reach out,
Into the holy fire of his flaming form
And press the softest of starry ocean kisses
To his warm, flaring cheek
Even if the fire would consume all of your being
And burn away the veil of stars
You hold clutched to your form.
For now, all you can do,
Is watch in lunar silence,
Allowing your overflowing emotions and sadness
Create more craters in your surface,
And raise the tides of the ocean below.
